- ERCB Report 63-8 on application no. 957 (Hearing 219) by Cities Service et al to produce 100,000 barrels per day of synthetic crude oil from Crown Lease No. 17 at Mildred Lake, commencing in 1969 and using a mining and hot water process and on application no. 1116 (Hearing 220) by Shell to product 130,000 barrels of raw crude oil per day from Crown leases No. 26, 42, 45 & 53 in the Namur Lake area of the Athabasca Oil Sands commencing in 1969 and using an in situ thermal recovery process; Board Hearing on Cities Service in Calgary on 1963-01-15/16; Board Hearing on Shell in Calgary on 1963-02-12/13/14; These two applications represent the 2nd and 3rd applications respectively for commercial oil sands schemes.
